Also I wanted to tell you about this new video me and my friends posted on you tube last night. It's our version of Mac vs. PC commercials. It's pretty good. Check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gP_aei6PoiI

LOL Thanks for the video. You and your friends did a pretty good job.

For all who have not seen the video, it is okay to click the link. It is not a rick roll.

There is absolutely no reason a P4 cannot run some version of linux. I would get Ubuntu to send you the CD-Rom through the mail, if you are a newbie. that way you don't have to suffer a long download or burn an iso to disc yourself (which can be tricky for noobs). The ubuntu linux is simply outstanding. Easy to install and looks great. Runs well on most p3 and better systems. It is one of the highest developed linux distro's to date, meaning lots of free programs, extensive support, and good drivers.

Otherwise, you could use pretty much any linux you find attractive. I use DSL (Damn Small Linux) which would run ridiculously fast on a P4 (I only have a 166mhz P1). But it can be challenging to a noob. I am a noob myself though, and with a little research and toying around, DSL is actually pretty nice too.

Either way, drop me a line if you have any further questions.

ACTUALLY, I cannot get ubuntu to load on my slow machine. It tries to install but a P1 is just too damn slow. Ubuntu is to XP-Vista what DSL is to 98-2000 windows. So though I am familiar with it, (as I ran it live off the cdrom directly) and started to install it, I never got it up and running. You will have no problems though. Let me restate that - you should have no problems though.

It is pretty much a "click OK to do this and that" style setup. Let it try with defaults. It will detect your windows partition and offer to do a dual-boot setup. That is pretty much unique to ubuntu by the way. As long as you are familiar with partitioning it should not be that big a deal to install on a modern computer.

I wish I could guide you thru, but I have nothing to load Ubuntu on. My computers are all old as hell.
