Hi. I've got this friend whom I would like to convert to Linux. He does a lot of high-end graphics design work. I think he believes that it is only possible to do high-end graphics design work on a very expensive computer running Windows.
A/V definitely isn't my field, so I don't know what to tell him. However, I've heard other graphics designers say they prefer Linux.
I was wondering, has anyone written an article about this that I could send to him in a hyperlink? If not, could somebody write such an article?

Gimp & Inkscape should be a good starting point for replacing for instance Photoshop & Coreldraw. I personally find quite a few "better" features in these two opensource programs. There are so many good opensource programs that will run on Linux, that he will have a hard time making up his mind as to which ones to use.
I am myself new to Linux, and a graphic designer. I can't wait to get away from the restraints of MS as soon as possible if not sooner.

I came across this information yesterday for graphic designers and photographers who want to work on LINUX. I haven't tried it yet, but looks to have some real value!
The new Linux version has been internally tested on such popular distributions as Ubuntu, Red Hat and Debian, with others planned.
