Subject: windows software on Ubuntu

I use The Adobe Creative Suite CS 3, Rhino 3-D_4, Corel Painter X, Autodesk 3-D Studio Max 9, and light Wave. I've been hearing Linux can't run windows software or software that is bought.

Will I have any issues running Ubuntu, Ubuntu Gutsy w/Compiz Fusion or Gentoo w/Beryl on my Macbook Pro?

Will vitual box or Wine help?
Or can I just install it with the CD like in windows?

Thanks for the help!

Not sure whether wine will support the applications you've mentioned but you won't be able to 'just install with the CD like in windows' as Linux doesn't utilise the same .exe files as windows does. As long as your PC is powerful enough you could install a virtual machine, install Windows, and then run the apps. If not, search the net, forums and depositories for linux programs which offer the same facilies as the windows ones. You'll be surprised at what the alternatives can offer.

Hope that helps a little
